Position: Structural Engineer
Organization: Ryan Engineering, Inc.
Location: Fayetteville, AR
Reporting: Director of Structures Division
Status: Full-Time Salary with Benefits

We are Ryan Engineering, a structural engineering firm based in Northwest Arkansas. Our Structures Division specializes in industrial, municipal, and commercial projects; we also undertake numerous projects in building design. Our firm employs 15 full-time employees with Professional Engineering licenses in all 50 states. We provide efficient, practical engineering services, fine-tuned to the unique requirements of each project’s scope, budget, and schedule. We offer competitive salaries and benefits, a friendly, enriching office environment, and a people-first workplace. We are located in rapidly expanding Northwest Arkansas (NWA), an area nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and consistently one of the top-ranked — and most affordable — places to live in the U.S. NWA features numerous state parks, lakes, a world-class art museum, a major theater company, and a major concert venue. There are multiple Fortune 500 companies located in NWA, plus a wide selection of microbreweries, art spaces, food options, and music festivals — and to top it all off, NWA is home to the top-ranking school districts in the state. It’s a happening place, and we’re happy to call it home.

We’re looking for a Structural Engineer for design, drafting, calculations, and field services. The position requires:

  • Professional Engineering License
  • Minimum of four years of structural engineering experience
  • Revit and AutoCad experience
  • Passion for learning and attention to detail
  • Computer fluency and adaptability
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • A self-starting, team-oriented work ethic

A qualified candidate must be located in Northwest Arkansas or willing to commute to work on-site. Our preferred candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, with drafting and hands-on construction experience, and fluency in Revit.

We expect the Structural Engineer to produce engineering calculations for a variety of construction materials, model and produce design documents within Revit and AutoCAD, provide practical and buildable designs, and travel independently to client facilities to conduct the research necessary (e.g., interviews, archives, sketches) for engineering design and analysis (note: site visits may involve some climbing). The Structural Engineer will work with structural designers on design documents, coordinate with colleagues and clients to resolve design problems, assist other engineers and staff in completing projects, reviewing and editing specifications, sketches, and other data, and provide other services upon request. Additionally, the Structural Engineer will have the opportunity to participate in the general business ecology of Ryan Engineering (i.e., recommending improvements in practice and procedure, as well as in efficiency, accuracy, and profitability) to maintain our high standard of engineering ethics and to maintain professional documentation.

We work locally and across the country, providing structural engineering services for industrial and municipal structures on projects ranging from water-bearing treatment facilities to structural specialties, including cranes, foundations, guardrails, and retaining walls; from structural assessments for loading ratings, failure reports, and risk assessments to building design for offices and mixed-use buildings; from blast analyses and flood barriers to curtain wall and storefronts. We look forward to hiring an exceptional Structural Engineer to join our tradition of providing vital engineering services to clients near and far.
